T.S. Elliot is Amazing.

First off, i would like to say that i really like this poem. Normally, im not a poetry kind of person, but this isnt "boring" or "dull" or "idealistic" or "overdramatic" like most of the poetry i come across. We are suppose to blog about how the structure of this poem furthers the meaning or what we think it means. And quite frankly i dont really know how the structure fits in, but im gunna type and think at the same time..which could mean some messed up logic. Cause when i think its not always sequencial. o well.

i think that this is about the life of someone who has always been on the "outside", a wall flower, an observer. what ever you call them. This person, regrets this life he has lived becuase he sences no purpose in that life. its like an inferiority complex, he states that he will never be a "main character with a purpose" (hamlet), and he is regretful of that, because i believe he desires that. But is two concerned with what other people precieve him as. His life has been ruitine. But the structure of this Poem offers no ruitine, no structure. Life doesnt have a formula to follow, you gotta live and take each moment and experience as it comes. Because one day you could be up, and one day down. There is no "one soultion" fits all. Rather is experinceing things, things like love that change a person. The person in this poem is isolated and incapable of decisive action, he's afraid to life. Living is chaotic, deal with it. This mans fear doesnt let him live, he wants a formula...to find a way to be mad to live, but his life has passed him by, and he is nothing, his life was nothing. and now he "drowns "in the memories of his past, what it could have been, and where it has taken him. THis poem is also his thoughts... thoughts are random, sparatic. no "right or wrong" to a thought... so that could have something to do with the stanza structure. i dont know...just an observation
